Family Devotionals: Bible Stories to Read Together
Family devotions don’t have to be long or complicated. Ten minutes around the dinner table or at bedtime is enough to read a Bible story together, talk about it and pray. The Bible pictures parents talking about God’s Word in the middle of ordinary life:
These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (BSB)
How to do family devotions in 10 minutes
- Read. Read one of the Bible stories below out loud. Let older kids take a turn reading.
- Ask. Use the questions in each devotional, or simply ask, “What does this story teach us about God?”
- Pray. Keep it short. Thank God for one thing from the story and ask Him to help your family live it out.
Tips by age: Little ones can act out the story or draw it. Elementary kids can find the story in their own Bible. Teenagers can lead the discussion some nights.
