Internships at Clarity Church
Help build a young church in Brooklyn Park
Clarity Church is a church plant in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Our first public worship gathering was in September 2013, and we still meet in the gym at Edinbrook Elementary, setting up church every Sunday morning. Our volunteer church internships are for people who want to do more than attend a church. They want to help build one.
As an intern you’ll serve alongside our pastor and ministry leaders for a season, learn how a church plant works from the inside, and grow as a follower of Jesus while you do it. If you’re looking for Christian internships near Minneapolis, this one puts you inside a young church, where you’ll see how a church is built week by week.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18 (BSB)
Jesus builds His church. Our part is to show up, serve and make disciples, and an internship is a focused way to do that for a season.
The work
What a Clarity Church intern does
Every intern leads in one ministry area, and every internship shares the same rhythm:
- Sunday mornings. Serve at our 10am gathering, from setup to the last conversation over coffee.
- Your track. Plan, lead and learn in one ministry area with a leader who has done it before.
- Check-ins. Meet regularly with your ministry leader and spend time with our pastor.
- Community. Join a small group, so you’re growing in faith, not only doing tasks.

Pay
Is it paid? What you receive
Our internships are volunteer roles, and they’re unpaid. Here’s what you receive instead:
- A mentor. Regular one-on-one time with a leader in your area, plus time with our pastor.
- Real ministry experience. In a young, small church you’ll help lead, not just watch.
- Spiritual growth. Scripture, prayer and community are part of the internship, not extras.
- Something for your résumé. A reference at the end, and help logging hours if your school gives credit for ministry internships or field education.
Paul wrote that God gave leaders to the church “to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). That’s the heart of this internship. We want to equip you, and we want you to help build up the church.
Who can apply
Who can apply
You don’t need a ministry degree. We’re looking for people who follow Jesus, want to grow and are willing to serve in a young, small church. Interns are often college or seminary students and recent graduates, but there’s no upper age limit, and adults exploring a move toward ministry are welcome. You’ll need to be at least 18 and agree with our foundational beliefs. Kids and youth ministry tracks require a background check, as every Clarity Kids volunteer does.

Church volunteer opportunities
More ways to volunteer at Clarity Church
Looking for church volunteer opportunities near Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove or Osseo, without the commitment of an internship? You can still serve with us:
- Sunday teams. Welcome guests at the door, serve in the cafe, help in Clarity Kids or help set up at Edinbrook Elementary.
- Every Meal. Help with the weekend food program at Edinbrook Elementary. See Community and Missions to sign up.
- Service days. Join us when we make sandwiches with The Sandwich Project or pack food at Second Harvest Heartland in Brooklyn Park.
Volunteering is also a great way to get to know people. Many people at Clarity started by serving on a Sunday team, then joined a small group. Curious about the bigger picture? Read why we plant churches.
FAQs
Church interns help with real ministry under a mentor. At Clarity that means serving on Sunday mornings, leading in one area such as worship, youth, kids, outreach, media or pastoral ministry, and meeting regularly with a leader to grow in skill and faith.
Some churches pay a stipend, but Clarity’s internships are unpaid volunteer roles. In return you get a mentor, real ministry experience and a reference at the end, and we keep your schedule flexible around classes or work.
Yes. You don’t need a degree or ministry experience to intern at Clarity. You need a growing relationship with Jesus, a teachable attitude and a willingness to serve. We’ll train you in your area as you go.
Not at all. Many church internships are built around college students, but ours has no upper age limit. Recent graduates, people in their twenties and adults changing careers are all welcome, as long as you’re at least 18.
Many do, and Clarity does. A semester or summer internship fits around classes, and if your school gives credit for ministry internships or field education, we’ll work with your advisor on supervision, evaluations and logging hours.
Start by visiting on a Sunday, then ask how you can help. At Clarity you can fill out our Connect form or talk with a leader after the service, and we’ll find a team that fits, from welcoming guests to helping with kids or serving in our community.
Yes. List it like any other role, with your title, dates, what you did and what changed because of it. Church internships and volunteer leadership show responsibility, teamwork and initiative, and our interns get a reference at the end.
