Meet Phil: Our Lead Pastor
The son of Filipino immigrants, Phil was born in Hagerstown, MD, and grew up in Newport News, VA, where he encountered the truth of who Christ is and, at age 15, chose to make Christ the Lord and Savior of his life. Since that moment, he has been deeply involved in seeing other people’s lives changed by the good news of Jesus Christ.
After graduating from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN, Phil spent the next 14 years serving in pastoral roles in Orlando, FL (Calvary Chapel South Orlando) and Maple Grove, MN (The Grove Church – formerly Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church), as well as serving as the EFCA national office as the Challenge Gatherings Director.
In 2013, Phil was called by Northridge Fellowship and Grace Fellowship to be the Lead Pastor of a new church in the west Twin Cities area. Since then, he has served as Clarity Church’s lead pastor.
Phil and Leona have been married since 2004, and they share life together in Brooklyn Park with their three kids – Brennan, Emily, and Mia – and a dog named Bella.
Phil is also honored to serve in his community as a coach at Osseo High School for Soccer, Track and Field, and Gymnastics, and is a volunteer Board Member and president of Maplebrook Soccer in Maple Grove, MN
